I don’t usually write course reviews, but Professor John Lumsden did an outstanding job with this Introduction to Ethics course. One of the key lessons was that “Philosophy is concerned with seeking and recognizing the truth,” and that idea was clearly reflected in how the course was designed. The material was structured to help students understand concepts and arrive at clear, well-reasoned answers, rather than relying on confusing or “gotcha” questions. The course covered a wide range of ethical topics and remained engaging throughout. The pacing felt purposeful, and I consistently found myself wanting to learn more without feeling fatigued or overwhelmed. Overall, this was a well-designed, thoughtful, and rewarding course.

This course was surprisingly tough. A LOT of information, and a lot of opportunity for mistakes, but very enriching.
by Karli T. on January 25, 2026
Easy yet informative. Probably the easiest class I have taken but I did enjoy it a lot!
